HC Deb 05 December 1989 vol 163 c142W
Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what proposals he has received for changing the basis on which welfare milk is paid for; and whether he will make it his policy to ensure that any change does not reduce the incomes of self-employed milkmen.

Mr. Freeman

As part of the Government's initiative to secure value for money in all their purchases, negotiations have been held with representatives of all sectors of the dairy trade about the price paid by the Department for the supply of liquid welfare milk. The results are being closely studied and the interests of all the parties involved will be carefully considered before any decisions are made.
