§ Mr. HinchliffeTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what information is made available from computerised police records to social services departments, residential homes and other organisations offering care to vulnerable people who are considering the suitability of applicants for employment.
§ Mr. Douglas HoggArrangements have been set up which allow the police to disclose information to local authorities, the health service and independent schools about those seeking to work in posts with substantial access to children.
The information disclosed would include details of convictions, cautions and bind overs. Other relevant information, such as details of acquittals, or decisions not to prosecute, where the circumstances of the case would give cause for concern, may also be disclosed exceptionally, on the authority of an assistant chief constable.
