To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what research is currently being carried out into the effects of the imprisonment of a parent who has care of a child on the long-term development of the child.

None. Research commissioned by the Home Office into the physical and psychological development of babies in prison, compared with those not subjected to this experience, has recently been published by the university of Sussex. We are not aware of any current research into the long-term effects of imprisonment on prisoners' families.
