§ Mr. Chris PattenWe maintain a small technical co-operation programme for Ethiopia, but the bulk of our aid has been in the form of emergency and relief assistance (more than £21 million in 1988 through bilateral and European Community channels).
In the case of Sudan, we have a substantial development aid programme, totalling about £18 million in 1988. We also gave an additional £14.4 million last year, through bilateral and European Community channels, in emergency and relief aid.
