§ Mr. LeighTo ask the Prime Minister if she will make a statement about the pay of medical and dental officers in the armed forces.
§ The Prime MinisterThe armed forces pay review body has submitted to me a supplementary report on the pay of medical and dental officers in the Armed Forces which recommends increases of between 4.7 per cent. and 8.3 per cent. with effect from 1 April 1989. For the majority the recommended increase is 8 per cent. These awards are derived from those to civilian doctors and dentists which I announced in the House on 16 February 1989 and the Government have decided to accept them in full.
The report has been published as Cm 667 and copies are available in the Vote Office.
