§ Mr. RedmondTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the criteria on the performance targets set for each chairman of the national water authorities.
§ Mr. MoynihanTargets set and achievement against them, are published each year in water authority's annual report and accounts. Copies are available in the Library of the House. In setting these targets the Government take account of past performance, the characteristics of the region within which the authority operates, and an assessment of the scope for improvement in performance.
