HC Deb 04 April 1989 vol 150 c18W
Mr. Colin Shepherd

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many prosecutions have been made under section 48 (1)(a) of the Civil Aviation Act 1949; how many of these involved microlight aircraft; and, in this respect:, what was the outcome of each.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

Section 48 of the Civil Aviation Act 1949, which provided power to give effect in the United Kingdom to the Rome convention 1933 relating to damage caused by aircraft to third parties on the surface, was never brought into operation. It was repealed by section 26 of the Civil Aviation Act 1968.
