§ 40. Mr JesselTo ask the Lord President of the Council whether he has any proposals to improve hon. Members' vehicular access to the House.
§ Mr. WakehamI have no such proposals at present. However, as my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister informed my hon. Friend the Member for Hertford and Stortford (Mr. Wells) in a written reply on Wednesday 19 October 1988, the Government have committed some £186,000 to studies commissioned by Westminster city council into ways of improving the environment and traffic conditions in Parliament square. I am sure that the authorities of the House will draw the attention to the Commissioner of the Metropolitan police and Westminster city council to any particular points which my hon. Friend has in mind.
