To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) if his Department proposes any new initiatives on student loans; and if he will make a statement;

(2) when he now expects to announce the results of his review on student finance; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Jackson

The Government are considering the introduction of top-up loans for student maintenance. They will publish their proposals for the future of student support in due course.
