HC Deb 25 October 1988 vol 139 c193W
92. Mr. Cryer

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what proportion of the work force were in temporary, seasonal or casual work(a) in 1979 and (b) at the latest available date.

Mr. Lee

It is estimated from the Labour Force Survey that 3.6 per cent. of the economically active in Great Britain were in seasonal, temporary or casual jobs in spring 1983 (the earliest year for which data is available). An equivalent figure for the spring of 1987 was 4 per cent.
