§ Mr. LeeIn September 1988 the number of unfilled vacancies registered at jobcentres in the United Kingdom, seasonally adjusted and excluding community programme vacancies was 242,200 compared with 246,600 in September 1987, a decrease of 1.8 per cent. over the last 12 months. It is estimated that about a third of all vacancies are notified to jobcentres.
