Grade level Number of vacancies Percentage of vacancies against grade complement HEO and equivalent 53½ 11 EO and equivalent 87 15 AO and equivalent 111½ 14 AA and equivalent 101½ 14 Total non-Industrials 417 12 Industrials 39 33 Notes:
1. The numbers of vacancies by grade equivalents are measured by comparing the figures for staff in post at 1 October 1988 with the authorised complement for the Department at the same date.
2. The figures include some specially complemented posts which may be filled at one of several grade levels. Complement information for these posts has been provided on a proportional basis.
3. Normal retirement, resignation and recruitment patterns mean that a proportion of the authorised complement is inevitably unfilled at any one time. Additionally cash limits on running costs restrict the number of posts the Department can fill.
