HC Deb 24 October 1988 vol 139 c76W
Mr. Wray

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) how many state primary schools in Scotland involve parents in school activities (i) occasionally and (ii) on a regular basis; and which type of activities tend to attract more parents' involvement;

(2) how many state secondary schools in Scotland involve parents in school activities (i) occasionally and (ii) on a regular basis; and which type of activities tend to attract more parents' involvement.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

Detailed information on individual school activities is not held centrally. There is considerable evidence that parents wish to be more closely involved with their children's education and want more and better information about their progress. Our plans for the introduction of school boards and for the review of curriculum and assessment are intended to meet these needs.
