To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has received a copy of the report of the committee of inquiry into the conduct of a consultant surgeon, employed at the Inverclyde royal hospital, Greenock, following the death of a patient; and if he will make a statement.

No. The committee of inquiry will submit its report to Argyll and Clyde health board in accordance with the procedures in Scottish hospital memorandum 49/1968. It will be for the health board to consider the committee's findings and to decide what action, if any, is required.
