To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs for what purpose he has signed an accord with the Aga Khan Foundation; and if he will make a statement.

The accord reflects the successful collaboration between the Aga Khan Foundation (UK) and the Overseas Development Administration and confirms our joint intention to consolidate that partnership in further development projects.

Since 1983, we have collaborated in five projects, the largest of which is the rural support programme for the Chitral district in the North West Frontier province of Pakistan to which the ODA will contribute a grant of £3.7 million. Following signature of the accord in May, three further joint-funded projects have been approved.
