HC Deb 19 October 1988 vol 138 cc945-6W
Mr. French

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many representations he has received regarding criminal offences associated with the use of pool cars; what plans he has for curtailing the abuse of pool cars; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

[pursuant to his reply, 13 July 1988, c. 235]: I am sorry that my hon. Friend's question appeared wrongly in the Order Paper addressed to the Secretary of State for the Environment. It was correctly tabled for answer by the Secretary of State for the Home Department, but was transferred because of a misinterpretation of the term "pool car" as referring to the Government car service pool vehicles used by Ministers and officials, the responsibility of the Department of the Environment. There was insufficient time, once the mistake had come to light, to transfer the question back to the Home Department before the day on which it was set down for answer.
