HL Deb 19 October 1988 vol 500 cc1243-4WA
Lord Gallacher

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the proposed funding arrangements for Food From Britain in 1989–90 and 1990–91 will permit FFB's co-operative work to continue independently of FFB's other activity and without the necessity of a contribution by industry as announced on 29th July 1988.

Baroness Trumpington

As a result of the change in government funding arrangements Food From Britain announced on 9th September 1988 proposals to restructure its organisation. The home market and co-operative development divisions are to be combined into a new UK marketing division. This division will be responsible for the full range of FFB's domestic activities, including FFB's statutory responsibilities for co-operative development.

My right honourable friend the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has approved these proposals. He has asked the FFB chairman to draw up a business plan which clearly identifies the activities related to co-operative development, as well as the budget and manpower resources allocated to them. These activities will be financed out of the grant-in-aid.
