HL Deb 30 November 1988 vol 502 c399WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many persons have been killed or injured during the last 10 years as a result of collisions between submarines and surface vessels in the Irish Sea and adjoining waters.

The Minister of State for Defence Procurement (Lord Trefgarne)

Nine persons have suffered shock or minor injury in two such incidents involving Royal Navy submarines. I am pleased to say, however, that there has been no loss of life.
