§ Mr. HurdThe functions of local authorities in a war emergency are prescribed by regulations made under section 2 of the Civil Defence Act 1948, in particular the Civil Defence (General Local Authority Functions) Regulations 1983 (S.I. 1983/1634). Guidance on the discharge of these functions is contained in the publication "Emergency Planning Guidance to Local Authorities", a copy of which is in the Library.
