To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will give figures showing, in 1988 prices, the average income from all sources for a lone parent family, their average disposable income, and their average expenditure per household in 1979 and 1987, or the most recent available date.

[holding answer 24 October 1988]: The table shows average gross and net income for lone parent families in 1979 and 1986 (the latest available year) expressed at July 1988 prices. Expenditure data in the family expenditure survey relates to households and cannot be apportioned among the income units within a household.
