To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what instructions he has given for the modification of cars used by his Department so that they can use unleaded petrol.

The Scottish Office has a policy for the progressive conversion of its official car fleet. To date some 60 per cent. of our vehicles have been modified; we shall ensure that all new cars have engines which can use unleaded petrol.
