How many people were directly employed by the Independent Broadcasting Authority (then the Independent Television Authority) on 1st January 1968 (before Independent Radio, Colour Television and Channel 4) and on the latest convenient date.

The number of staff employed by the Independent Television Authority on 1st January 1968 is not readily available, but the average figure for the year ending 31st March 1968 was 770. The number employed by the Independent Broadcasting Authority on 1st November 1988 was 1334, and the average figure for the year ending 31st March 1988 was 1378.
