HC Deb 14 November 1988 vol 140 c470W
Mr. Sheerman

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport (1) what steps have been taken to ensure that EROPS in and out of the United Kingdom are conforming to ICAO guidelines;

(2) whether any comparison has been made between the actual failure rates in EROPS and those which were predicted.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The Civil Aviation Authority is responsible for the regulation of safety in respect of operations by United Kingdom-registered aircraft. The CAA's requirements in respect of EROPS operations conform with ICAO standards. Regulation of operations by foreign-registered aircraft is the responsibility of the state of registry, which is also expected to observe ICAO standards. If the hon. Member requires more information I suggest he approaches the CAA.
