§ Mr. SheermanTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport (1) what steps have been taken to ensure that EROPS in and out of the United Kingdom are conforming to ICAO guidelines;
(2) whether any comparison has been made between the actual failure rates in EROPS and those which were predicted.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyThe Civil Aviation Authority is responsible for the regulation of safety in respect of operations by United Kingdom-registered aircraft. The CAA's requirements in respect of EROPS operations conform with ICAO standards. Regulation of operations by foreign-registered aircraft is the responsibility of the state of registry, which is also expected to observe ICAO standards. If the hon. Member requires more information I suggest he approaches the CAA.
