HC Deb 14 November 1988 vol 140 c476W
Mr. Irving

To ask the Secretary of State for Health when the seminars he has funded to spread knowledge, among both psychiatric professional staff and planners, of the best ways of meeting the needs of those people chronically disabled by mental illness who may need long-term in-patient care, whilst avoiding the institutional environment of traditional long-stay wards, are being held.

Mrs. Currie

I presume that my hon. Friend is referring to a series of seminars, financed by the Department of Health, to publicise research that has been completed on hospital hostels for the chronically mentally ill. Five seminars were held between 16 October 1987 and 17 June 1988.
