HC Deb 11 November 1988 vol 140 c335W
Mr. Sheerman

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what special arrangements are made with the local police when transporters carrying nuclear fuel-related loads cross the M62.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

The police would not normally be involved in the routine transportation by road of nuclear fuel-related loads. Special arrangements would be made if an escort were required for an abnormally large or slow moving load. I understand that no such escorts have been required in the West Yorkshire police area.
