What have been the results of the clinical trials into the new accellular pertussis vaccine pioneered at the centre of Applied Microbiological Research at Porton Down which the Baroness Trumpington stated were shortly to commence (H.L. Deb. 24th March 1987, col. 164).

The Phase I trials have been successfully completed and the results published. The Phase II trials should be completed early in 1989 and the protocol for the Phase III trials is presently being considered by the Medical Research Council.
