§ Mr. SpearingTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will estimate the approximate cost to the Metropolitan police of(a) their preparations for the Destination Docklands concerts on 8 and 9 October and (b) related operations on those days.
§ Mr. Douglas Hogg[holding answer 19 October 1988]: I understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that the estimated additional cost of preparatory work for these concerts was £11,000. This cost comprises overtime worked by officers posted to the concert office. The additional policing costs on the days of the concerts were given in my reply to a question from the hon. Member for Newham, North-West (Mr. Banks) on 19 October at column 884.
