To ask the Prime Minister if she will make a statement about the chairmanship of the Armed Forces Pay Review Body.

Sir Peter Matthews has advised me that he will wish to retire as chairman of the Armed Forces Pay Review Body after it has completed its next report in 1989. I take this opportunity of expressing the Government's gratitude to Sir Peter for his service as chairman of that review body since 1984.

I am glad to be able to announce that Mr. Peter Cazalet has agreed to take over the chairmanship from Sir Peter Matthews from 1 April 1989 for a period of three years.
