To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will make a statement on the review of resource allocation working party funding.

Mr. Mellor

The National Health Service management board was asked to explore the scope for improving the way in which the national resource allocation working party formula measures relative need for health care across the country. Full details of the recommendations are contained in the board's final report on the review, which was published on 19 July. A copy is in the Library.

The review of the RAWP formula was already close to completion when the Government began their wide review of the National Health Service. The Government will consider this report within the context of this wider review.
