§ Mrs. CurrieIn 1986, 1,050,200 day cases were treated in England. This was 87 per cent. more than the 562,200 day cases treated in 1978. Figures for 1987–88 are not yet available. Day cases in 1986 represented 14.1 per cent. of all patients treated (other than outpatients) in NHS hospitals.
