HC Deb 27 May 1988 vol 134 c396W
Mr. Beith

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment (1) what percentage of female part-time waged workers is included in pension schemes in(a) nationalised industries and (b) local government;

(2) what percentage of female full-time waged workers is included in pension schemes in (a) nationalised industries and (b) local government.

Mr. Portillo

I have been asked to reply.

According to estimates produced from data collected for the 1987 survey of occupational pension schemes by the Government Actuary (as yet unpublished) the percentage of female part-time and full-time employees of nationalised industries and local government who were members of occupational pension schemes at the time are as follows:

Part-time Full-time
Nationalised industries 20 over 95
Local government 10 over 95

Note:

These figures take no account of changes since 1987 resulting from the Government's recent pensions reforms.
