To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland why, pursuant to his answer of 11 May,Official Report, column 107, information concerning the payment of forestry grant-aid in Sutherland and Caithness is not kept on a readily available basis; and if he will make a statement.

[holding answer 23 May 1988]: The information is readily available on a case-by-case basis. Since however, these records are not computerised, it would have been necessary to examine hundreds of individual files in order to provide the comprehensive information requested by the hon. Member.
