§ Mr. SumbergTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has made in the past six months to the Soviet ambassador concerning violations of human rights in the Soviet Union; and what plans he has for further such representations in the near future.
§ Mr. MellorWe take every suitable opportunity to raise human rights violations with the Soviet authorities in Moscow and with the Soviet ambassador here. My right hon. and learned Friend did so during his talks with Mr. Shevardnadze in February. We shall be making further representations during bilateral human rights talks at official level in June.
