HC Deb 20 May 1988 vol 133 c616W
Mr. Barron

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to the answer of 16 May,Official Report, column 364, what specific aspects of the Associated British Ports (No. 2) Bill he discussed with the chairman of Associated British Ports at their meeting on 24 February; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Mitchell

The chairman explained ABP's proposals for developments at King's Lynn, Port Talbot and Immingham. It is perfectly normal and proper for the chairman of a major port undertaking to keep Ministers informed from time to time about developments affecting their ports. Among other things, he informed my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State of the extent of the opposition to this Bill and of I he petitions against it.
