HC Deb 19 May 1988 vol 133 cc541-2W
32. Mr. Vaz

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has received any recent representations concerning the request by the chief constable of Leicestershire for more police officers; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

Yes. My right hon. Friend has carefully considered the Leicestershire police authority's application for additional manpower but was unable to allocate for the authority any of the 450 posts available for 1988–89. The police authority has been informed that its application will be considered again, together with others, when my right hon. Friend next takes decisions on the allocation of police manpower.
