§ Mr. RentonI have received a number of representations about the time taken to acknowledge applications for registration submitted before 31 December 1987, and about the time taken to consider citizenship applications generally. These delays are very much regretted, but we are dealing with this formidable task in the manner I described earlier today to my hon. Friend the Member for Richmond and Barnes (Mr. Hanley) and the hon. Member for Wolverhampton South-East (Mr. Turner).
