To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will institute an appraisal of the benefits derived from the garden festival at Stoke-on-Trent.

Mr. Trippier

Consultants were commissioned in December 1987 to evaluate the national garden festivals at Liverpool, Stoke-on-Trent and Glasgow. The benefits derived from these events are one of the elements of the evaluation.
