HC Deb 13 May 1988 vol 133 c279W
Mr. Home Robertson

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has made any arrangements to enable the Scottish Special Housing Association tenants who wish to do so to transfer their homes to registered housing associations without losing their status as secure tenants before the implementation of part 2 of the Housing (Scotland) Bill.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

The Scottish Special Housing Association already operates a general policy of enabling its tenants to have access to a wide choice of arrangements in relation to the ownership and management of their homes. Where SSHA tenants wish the ownership of their houses to be transferred to a registered housing association, the unprecedentedly high level of capital allocation that we have made available to the Housing Corporation in Scotland for the current financial year will facilitate the acquisition of the houses by associations, although detailed decisions about the content of their programmes are a matter for the corporation.
