§ Mr. Butcher
A report on the economic and technical feasibility of microwave video distribution systems, commissioned from Touche Ross by my Department and the Home Office, was delivered in December 1987. The report shows that, given certain assumptions about the spectrum that might be made available, six and perhaps up to 12 additional television services could be provided to areas covering some 70 per cent. of United Kingdom households, though not everyone within such areas would receive an acceptable signal. The Government are at present considering the report together with other information, in the context of wider decisions on the future structure of broadcasting.
