Mr. Chris Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what revenue has been received by his Department since 11 November 1987 from the payment of fees for subject access to personal records, pursuant to the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1984

Mr. Rifkind

No valid applications have been received from the general public under the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1984 and consequently no revenue has been received by the Scottish Office.

Mr. Chris Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many applications under the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1984 for subject access to personal records held by his Department he has received since 11 November 1987.

Mr. Rifkind

Eighteen valid applications have been received under the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1984; all have been from staff within the Scottish Office.
