- 1. Expenditure on family practitioner services is excluded: such expenditure is accounted for by family practitioner committees (FPCs) and cannot strictly be attributed to particular regions. However, prior to 1 April 1985 many of the district health authorities within each region had an associated FPC and those authorities' total expenditure figures for 1984–85 include elements relating to FPCs' administrative expenses which are not separately identifiable.
- 2. Expenditure by the special health authorities and other bodies providing central services to the National Health Service and expenditure met centrally by the Department is also excluded.
