To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has received about the opportunities provided for business and trades unions by the single European market.

My right hon. and learned Friend and I are in regular contact with a number of business organisations and representative bodies about the completion of the single European market and the opportunities it affords for British businesses and for job opportunities.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when he last met Lord Cockfield to discuss the completion of the internal European market.

My right hon. and learned Friend last met Lord Cockfield to talk about the single market on 18 November last year. He will he meeting him again shortly to discuss a number of issues including completion of the single market.
