§ Mr. Peter Bottomley[holding answer 29 March 1988]: Over 60 per cent. of all serious injuries to motor cyclists are to the legs. It is estimated that leg protectors could transfer 40 per cent. of leg injuries from the serious category to slight and eliminate 30 per cent. of slight leg injuries.
