§ Mr. Norman Lamont[holding answer 28 March 1988]: The effect on tax receipts of these provisions by all banks for the year 1987–88 was given in the answer to the hon. Member for Oxford, East (Mr. Smith) on 14 March 1988 at column 429. Because of the Inland Revenue's rules of confidentiality, it is not the practice to give figures of this kind for particular parts of the banking sector.
