HC Deb 24 March 1988 vol 130 c219W
20. Mr. Alton

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he plans to review his Department's policy towards the treatment of life prisoners and persons detained at the Secretary of State's pleasure who committed crimes before, or at, the age of 18 years; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Stanley

My right hon. Friend indicated our general attitude to Secretary of State pleasure cases in his reply to the hon. Member for Foyle (Mr. Hume) on 25 February at column 429. He has noted the views which have been expressed by elected representatives, Church leaders and others and is considering whether any special action is called for. No decision has yet been taken.
