HC Deb 24 March 1988 vol 130 c186W
Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what information he has regarding the costs of policing the meeting of the central council of the Conservative party held in Harrogate.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

The last meeting of the National Union of Conservative and Unionist Associations Central Council was held at Buxton in Derbyshire on 18–19 March. I understand from the chief constable of Derbyshire that the estimated additional costs of policing the meeting were in the region of £200,000. Under the normal arrangements 51 per cent. of this expenditure will be met from central funds.
