HC Deb 23 March 1988 vol 130 c157W
Ms. Ruddock

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he has made any estimate of the number of people in the London borough of Lewisham who will receive less benefit after April 1988, after taking the transitional arrangements into account.

Mr. Portillo

The Income Support (Transitional) Regulations 1987 are designed to ensure that the level of benefit will be preserved for the majority of continuing claimants at the point of transition. No local estimates have been made of the number of people who will receive less benefit after April 1988.
