HC Deb 23 March 1988 vol 130 cc143-4W
37. Mr. Andrew Welsh

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what consultations or representations he has had about continuing the supply of extra finance and other resources to the National Health Service in Scotland.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

An additional sum of £7.6 million was made available by my right hon. and learned Friend in December in order to enable health boards in Scotland to take a number of additional measures to reduce waiting lists and make further improvements within the current financial year. No specific representations have been made about continuing this specific additional funding in future years, but expenditure on the National Health Service in Scotland in 1988–89 is planned to increase by about £120 million over this year.
