Missile Attack (Warning)

Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the procedures to warn the civilian population of the United Kingdom of an impending missile attack would be initiated if a ballistic missile attack against the United States of America or any other North Atlantic Treaty Organisation members was detected.

Mr. John Patten

The procedure would be initiated if the United Kingdom population was thought to be at risk.
