HC Deb 22 March 1988 vol 130 c75W
Dr. Godman

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is satisfied with the adequacy of the training programmes available in Greenock and Port Glasgow, with particular reference to whether the unemployed persons will be able to respond to new job opportunities, especially with regard to the Inverclyde initiative.

Mr. Lang

Yes. The full range of Manpower Services Commission training and employment measures is available in Greenock and Port Glasgow and, together with other training initiatives supported by the Scottish Development Agency and the Inverclyde Enterprise Trust, should greatly enhance the job prospects of local unemployed people in the more buoyant labour market now prevailing.
